Cottage Details

Dog-friendly Moor View Chapel is a converted chapel in the Cornish countryside between Bodmin Moor and the North Cornish coast, situated on the National Cycle Network.

Up to four well-behaved dogs are welcome, and there is off-road parking next to the property. Sorry, no smoking is allowed at the property.

Inside

Beautifully converted, this unique holiday home is well presented throughout. Exposed beams mingle perfectly with modern touches. With central heating and a wood burner, guests will be comfortable and warm whatever the weather. Fuel (including a net of logs), power and a starter pack are included in the rent.

The open-plan living space is on the first floor, allowing you to enjoy the stunning views across the countryside. This is a relaxing social space, comprising kitchen, sitting room with wood burner and FreeSat television with Netflix, and dining area.

The kitchen has all the essential amenities, including oven, hob, fridge and dishwasher. A separate utility room houses the washing machine; this room also has space to store bikes or surfboards.

There are two bedrooms, both on the ground floor: a king-size double and a bunk. The bathroom is also on the ground floor, and has a bath with shower over, basin and WC. Bed linen and towels are included in the rent.

Free WiFi is available for guest use, and there is also a telephone for incoming calls.

Your online grocery delivery can be taken in by prior arrangement.

Outside

The property enjoys an enclosed courtyard with furniture, as well as its own one-acre paddock and stream, where you will see the chapel’s resident ponies.

I would highly recommend it for a couple or a family with small children and dogs. It’s amazing how a chapel has been transformed into a fully equipped cottage with a lovely courtyard to sit and enjoy the sunshine.

Location and surrounding area

This unique property is not far from Camelford, an old market town near Cornwall’s north coast. It is perfectly situated for exploring the coves and fishing villages in the area, and Bodmin Moor, which has been awarded International Dark Sky Landscape status due to the minimal light pollution allowing full appreciation of starry skies on a clear night.

The southwest coastal path is a wonderful opportunity to take in the breath-taking sea views, and there are many country inns and restaurants serving local produce.

Trebarwith Strand, the closest beach to Camelford, is dog friendly and great for surfing as well as rock-pooling for the less adventurous.

When you’re ready for some retail therapy, Wadebridge has a lively shopping centre. Discover the location of the Doc Martin television programme, Port Isaac, or take a drive to Padstow (with Rick Stein’s eateries), Rock or Polzeath, all easily accessible.

Dog friendly activities in the area

Excellent for walking, the breath-taking Roughtor, on Bodmin Moor, is just two miles away. Bodmin Moor has been awarded ‘International Dark Sky Landscape’ status, recognising its stunning night skies and minimal light pollution.

Colliford Lake Park consists of over 58 acres of woodland, wetland and moorland nature walks and welcomes dogs on leads.

The English heritage site of Restormel Castle, a 13th century, circular shell-keep also welcomes dogs in all areas when on a lead.
