Wharf Cottage is a dog-friendly, 200-year-old canal-side cottage, very close to the Lake District. On the outskirts of the small village of Burton-in-Kendal, this holiday home boasts a peaceful, rural setting alongside a closed section of the Lancaster to Kendal Canal.

Well-behaved dogs over two years old are welcome at the property, and there is off-road parking for four cars.

Inside

The interior is beautifully presented, with exposed stone walls and comfortable furnishing. It is warm in any season, thanks to night storage heaters and a wood burner. Fuel and power are included in the rent and logs are provided.

The large sitting room has plenty of comfy seating for guests to relax around the wood-burning stove to watch television, read a book, or chat about the day’s events.

The spacious kitchen diner is well-equipped, with oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washer dryer. Guests can enjoy the panoramic views as they eat breakfast or enjoy dinner together.

There are three bedrooms: a double on the ground floor, a second double room upstairs and a twin, also upstairs. Bed linen is included in the rent. The family bathroom is on the ground floor and has a bath, separate shower cubicle, basin and WC.

Outside

Relax on the enclosed canal-side patio, where furniture is provided for your comfort.

There is also a lockable back yard where bikes can be safely stored.

The cottage was excellent, ideal for a large family with 2 dogs. the cottage was very comfortable with a lovely wood-burner in the living room…

The canal towpath opposite offers opportunities for walking dogs and cycling.

The Cumbrian village of Burton-in-Kendal has all the essential amenities, including a post office and shop, a butcher and a dog-friendly pub serving good food.

A short 7-mile drive away is the market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, and at just 12 miles away lies Kendal.

From the cottage, it’s not far by car to discover Southern Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland.

If you like to relax with a spot of fishing, the cottage owner can give you information on fishing in the area by prior arrangement.
