Cottage Details

Dog-friendly Kirkbride Hall is a stone cottage built in 2015 in a traditional style. It nestles in the walled orchards of Melmerby Hall.

Up to three well-behaved dogs are welcome at a small additional charge (they are to remain on the ground floor), and there is off-road parking available. Sorry, no smoking is allowed at the property.

Kirkbride Hall sleeps eight guests and can be booked with Melmerby Hall which sleeps 18, and/or with Stag Cottage, which sleeps four.

Inside

The interior of the property has been decorated and furnished to an exceptional standard. It boasts underfloor heating beneath the solid oak flooring, fired by an environmentally friendly wood-chip boiler.

The spacious lounge has a cast-iron wood burner, and plenty of comfy seating. The dining room seats up to eight people comfortably and is complete with a smart dark-wood dresser.

The kitchen has a granite-topped breakfast bar and is well-equipped, with electric oven and hob, and a large American-style fridge/freezer. In the utility area there is a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave and access to a downstairs cloakroom.

There are four bedrooms: the master bedroom with its king-size four-poster bed and en-suite bathroom; the Manor Room, also en-suite, which is in a quiet area down three steps and has a king-size bed which can be two single beds on request; the Threlkeld Room with a king-size bed; and the Pattenson Room, also with a king-size bed. The last two rooms share the family bathroom with its cast iron bath and separate shower.

Free WiFi is available for guest use.

Outside

There is a large enclosed patio and garden at the back of the property, where you can relax at the end of a busy day exploring with your dogs.

The garden furniture is made from sustainable teak, and there is also a barbecue available with locally sourced charcoal provided.

It is possible to hire a hot tub on request.

Location and surrounding area

Kirkbride Hall has private gated access to Melmerby Hall’s 20 acres of mixed woodland, with paths, water meadows and a tributary to the River Eden.

The village of Melmerby is at the foot of the Pennine fells, in the heart of the Eden Valley. Breathtaking views can be enjoyed over the whole valley, the Lake District and even as far as southern Scotland on clear days. There is a village shop, tea room, post office, antique shop and a traditional Cumbrian pub.

Guests can swim for free at nearby Greystoke village outdoor, heated pool, and you can also make the most of being on the Coast to Coast cycle route.
