Cottage Details

Foxtail Cottage was built in the mid-nineteenth century for workers from the nearby silk mills. Set in a village location, this dog-friendly holiday home is within walking distance of two pubs. It sits nestled among a row of identical cottages, all built from golden Cotswold stone.

One well-behaved dog is welcome for a small additional charge.

On-street parking available.

Inside

As you walk through the front door you are greeted by a traditionally renovated space, mixed with modern creature comforts including WiFi and Smart TV. With its Aga in the kitchen, and a cosy inglenook fireplace in the sitting room, you will soon feel at home.

The ground-floor sitting room has oak flooring and light flooding in through dual aspect windows. It is a space perfect for relaxation after a day of exploring with your dog.  This room also offers a space for dining, with views over the deer park and rolling countryside that stretch out from the back of the house. You might expect to find the kitchen on the ground floor too, but this cottage hides a quirky secret: a lower ground floor level, imperceptible from the street.

Downstairs, the kitchen offers another delightful space with all the practical requirements of a modern kitchen (including dishwasher and washing machine) but with a traditional flourish. There’s even more to enjoy here, as a bright and airy garden room awaits. Furnished with more relaxing seating, the garden room is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the views of the countryside.

The lower ground floor also benefits from a WC/cloakroom.

Foxtail Cottage offers 2 bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and one with a double. Both bedrooms are located on the first floor, and the cottage can be booked for 2 (without the use of the double bedroom) or for 4 (using both bedrooms).

There is also a modern bathroom with walk-in shower on the first floor.

Outside

As you step outside from the garden room you come to a decked area leading to the cottage’s enclosed rear garden. Proceed down a few steps and there you will find a large sun terrace, complete with sun loungers and café-style seating. If you enjoy outdoor eating, there is a Weber charcoal barbecue as well as a chiminea to keep you warm on cooler evenings. From here you can look out over the deer park where there are often deer to be spotted.

Location and surrounding area

Blockley is a traditional North Cotswold village, with much of it built from the beautiful golden stone for which the area is renowned. With two pubs, a village shop and a community-run café, there are plenty of local amenities. Situated between Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Campden, it is a wonderful base from which to see the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The dog-friendly Batsford Arboretum is just over 3 miles away.

This part of Gloucestershire offers many places to walk, and history in abundance.
