In the village of Malham, North Yorkshire, within the Yorkshire Dales, is Malham Cove, which was created by glaciers at the end of the Ice Age over 12,000 years ago. The curved limestone formation produces awe-inspiring waterfalls and is one of the Yorkshire Dales’ most beautiful attractions. While you’re exploring the area, Gordale Scar is a limestone ravine that is 1 mile northeast of Malham. The overhanging limestone cliffs combined with two large-scale waterfalls will take your breath away.
If you want to spice up your walks with some impressive architecture, head to the tauntingly named Forbidden Corner. You can walk around these immaculate gardens, observing how seamlessly the natural world merges with its statues and unique buildings. There are twists and turns around every bend, with exciting tunnels and opportunities for family-filled fun.
The Pen-y-ghent peak in the Dales, also known as Penyghent, can be directly translated to “Hill on the border”. It is the smallest of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, but is still an impressive 2277 feet and certainly not lacking in natural beauty. The other two peaks are Ingleborough and Whernside, which are both well-worth a visit.
