Cottage Details

Located in the parish of Bashley, just 1.4 miles away from the market town of New Milton, is The Lodge. This beautiful detached property has been lovingly renovated to provide a luxurious home from home.

With a dog-friendly pub and shops less than a mile away, you are close enough to creature comforts, but far enough away to enjoy the splendor and tranquility that the lodge has to offer.

With an outdoor heated swimming pool in its grounds (available May to September upon request) and walled gardens, it is a lovely place from which to enjoy a break in the New Forest.

One well-behaved dog is welcome (subject to a charge of £25 per week).

Off-road parking is available.

Inside

Every room at The Lodge has been tastefully decorated, and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming. To one side of the sitting room you will find comfortable sofas in which to relax, as well as a wood burning stove. To the other side is a dining area with seating for six. There is a TV located in the sitting area.

The kitchen is finished in a farmhouse style, with a large range cooker, butler’s sink and traditional central butcher’s block. There is also a fridge, freezer, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. You will even find a TV to watch as dinner is prepared. A breakfast area opens out through a French window to the front garden.

The first of the bedrooms is also located on the ground floor, and makes for easy access. This room is furnished with a king-sized bed, and has doors leading out to the garden beyond. In addition, there is a ground floor shower room, with basin and toilet.

To finish off the ground floor, there is also a utility room, perfect for taking off muddy boots and wet coats after a walk in the New Forest countryside.

On the first floor are the remaining 3 bedrooms. One bedroom offers a super-king sized sleigh bed, and there is one double bedroom and one twin. There is also a family bathroom on this floor, with double-end bath, shower, basin and toilet.

The property also has a DVD player and iPod dock.

There is access to WiFi.

A travel cot and highchair are available on request. A booster seat can also be provided if needed, but this is only suitable for young children and not for babies.

The property is no smoking.

Outside

The gardens surrounding The Lodge are stunning and will be a wonderful place to pass long, summer days. Steamer chairs are provided for the side of the swimming pool, and there is a patio table and chairs to enjoy outdoor dining in the warmer months. There is also a charcoal barbecue (charcoal not provided) to finish off this wonderfully sociable space. Please note that the swimming pool is available from 25 May to 30 September (subject to an additional charge of £100 per week).

Location and surrounding area

The natural beauty of the New Forest is all around you at The Lodge, and this means that there are plenty of opportunities for long walks with your dog.  The close proximity to New Milton means that you will find plenty of places to buy provisions. On the days when you don’t feel like cooking, take a stroll to the dog-friendly Rising Sun pub, less than a mile from your front door.

You are also ideally placed for exploring the Hampshire coastline. The shingle beach at Barton-on-Sea is around 3 miles away. Here you will find the start of the Solent Way, a rugged but picturesque walking route of 60 miles in total. 

There is so much to explore in the New Forest National Park, that there will be plenty of things to fill your holiday.  The Georgian town of Lymington is only 7 miles away, and here you will find everything from yachting at the marina to markets held on the traditional cobbled streets.
