Cottage Details

Bassicks is a traditional stone-built Victorian cottage, nestled among others and located around a lovely courtyard.

All of the accommodation is located on the ground floor, making it easy to access.  The Graythwaite Estate itself offers you and your party the opportunity to explore the 5,000 acres of countryside that belongs to the Estate.

There are lots of activities on offer too, including an indoor heated swimming pool, table tennis room, a children’s outdoor play area and a farm shop.

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Off-road parking is available.

Inside

While the inside of Bassicks is bright and light, there are echoes of its traditional past. You will find some exposed beams, as well as flashes of the beautiful Lakeland stone.

In the sitting room there are comfortable sofas and armchairs in which to relax. An impressive stone fireplace and wood-burner take center stage, and add to the lovely traditional feel of the room. There is a TV with Freeview and a DVD player.

The modern fitted kitchen comes equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is shared use of a tumble dryer in the Estate’s table tennis room.

From the kitchen there is access to a dining area, located discreetly in the hallway, with a round dining table and seating for 8.

There are 4 bedrooms in total, comprising two double rooms and two twins. There is a family bathroom with bath and shower over, basin and toilet. In addition, there is a separate shower room with basin and toilet.

There is access to WiFi.

The property’s water supply comes from a private supply and is fed from a freshwater lake and treated ready for consumption. This is just part of the Estate’s long-term sustainability plan.

Outside

As well as the beautiful surroundings of the Estate itself, there is a shared patio with furniture and a barbecue for you to enjoy.

Location and surrounding area

You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to activities on the Graythwaite Estate. There is access to the shared indoor heated swimming pool, table tennis room and children’s play area. The Estate also offer a range of organised activities that you can prebook, including archery, canoeing and clay pigeon shooting. There is even a 2.5 acre trout fishing lake for guests to enjoy during their stay (a fishing license is required). There is also a farm shop on site for you to stock up on provisions and perhaps try some artisan Lake District produce.

Bassicks is a wonderful location from which to explore the Lake District World Heritage site. With so much to see and do, your holiday itinerary will be bursting with activities. The Forestry England Grizedale Forest is on your doorstep, and here you will find a range of interesting things including art installations, walking and cycling trails and plenty of opportunities for picnicking.
