Cottage Details

Lord’s Leap is a first floor apartment within a lovely barn conversion, located on the Graythwaite Estate, Ulverston in the Lake District. The accommodation inside is spacious and can accommodate up to 8 people.  A holiday on the Graythwaite Estate is a fabulous opportunity to explore the 5,000 acres of countryside upon which the Estate is located. But there are also many activities for you to enjoy too, including an indoor heated swimming pool, table tennis room, a children’s outdoor play area and a farm shop.

Inside

Lord’s Leap is accessed via a flight of 16 steps up to the apartment where all of the accommodation is then located on the first floor.

Inside, the open plan sitting and dining space is comfortable and spacious. Overhead the ceiling is vaulted with exposed beams originating from its days as a barn. Three cosy sofas face a log-burning stove, set into a stone fireplace. There is a TV in this area too with access to Freeview, and a high-level arched window adds even more character to the space. To one side of the main sitting area is a cosy separate sofa and armchair located beneath a high-level window, a great place for relaxing with a good book. Elevated on a platform to one side of the sitting area is a discreet dining area with table and chairs for 8.

The kitchen is equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. There is access to a tumble dryer in the communal table tennis room.

The sleeping accommodation comprises 2 double bedrooms and 2 twin rooms. There are more exposed beams in the bedrooms.  One of the bedrooms is located in the eaves, so the property’s character can be seen throughout.

Lord’s Leap benefits from a family bathroom with bath, shower over, toilet and basin, as well as a shower room with additional toilet and basin.

There is also a DVD player at the property and access to WiFi. A public payphone is available in the communal courtyard.

A travel cot and highchair are available on request.

The property’s water supply comes from a private supply and is fed from a freshwater lake and treated ready for consumption. This is just part of the Estate’s long-term sustainability plan.

The property is no smoking.

Outside

The property has access to a shared patio where you will find furniture and a barbecue.

Location and surrounding area

At the Graythwaite Estate, you can choose the pace of your holiday. Whether you just want to get out into nature and explore the Estate’s 5000 acres with your dog, or if you’d prefer to fill your days with exciting activities, there is something for everyone. The Estate offers a 2.5 acre fishing lake, as well as activities such as archery, canoeing and clay pigeon shooting, not to mention the swimming pool and table tennis table.

Take a visit to Wordsworth at Grasmere and discover why the great man himself deemed this to be ‘The loveliest spot that man hath ever found’. Whilst dogs are not allowed in Dove Cottage or the Garden Orchard, they are welcome in the café. There are plenty of walking routes in this area too. Grasmere is around 14 miles from the Estate.
