Shephard’s Retreat is a dog-friendly first-floor apartment in an architect-designed two-storey house, situated in a Somerset conservation area. It is in the grounds of the owner’s charming 17th century thatched cottage.

One well-behaved dog is welcome. A garage and off-road parking for one car is available.

Inside

With electric wall panel radiators, this apartment is comfortable all year round. As it is located in the eaves, the ceilings are attractively sloping in places, while still allowing plenty of headroom.

The living area is open-plan, including the kitchen, living room and dining area.

The kitchen is well-equipped with all the mod cons, including oven, microwave, fridge, freezer and slimline dishwasher, with a washer dryer in the garage. There are plenty of options where to eat, including a breakfast bar, dining area and patio outside.

The bedroom is a king-size double, and the en-suite bathroom has shower, basin and WC. Bed linen and towels are included in the rent.

Free WiFi is available for guest use.

Outside

Guests can enjoy views from the property over the owner’s immaculate gardens and the village lane nearby.

The apartment boasts its own private patio, where guests can relax after a day of exploring. You can also stroll around the owner’s fantastic gardens, which are suitable for dog-walking. Please keep your dog on a lead when within the owner’s grounds.

If you have brought a bike, there is lockable storage available.

Location and surrounding area

There is a pub and shop less than a mile from the apartment. The historic town of Somerton is just three miles away, and offers a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants. It is the ancient capital of Wessex and border the beautiful Somerset Levels.

The walled garden of Lytes Cary are also nearby, and further afield but easily accessible are Montacute House and gardens, and Glastonbury.
