Cottage Details
From your first glimpse of Hex Cottage, you’re sure to be bewitched. Once a forester’s house, this beautiful thatched property is the ultimate escape. It has no electricity and the lighting is from candles! So if it’s a complete escape from modern life that you’re looking for, Hex Cottage is perfect. Babies are welcomed.
One well behaved dog is also welcome for a small additional charge.
On-site parking available.
Inside
Everything that Hex Cottage offers is on one level, and as you step inside the front door you will feel transported back in history. The floors throughout are the original brick or wood, and even the leaded windows are the originals. In fact, it will feel like time has just stopped as you start your holiday here.
The cottage offers a sitting room with an open fire. Through into the kitchen you will find a wood-fired range, an original bread oven and a butler’s sink. To further transport you back in time, the lack of a fridge is addressed by an outside larder.
The bedroom, with its king size bed and canopy above, makes Hex Cottage a real escape for romantics. The beautiful touches don’t stop there, because in the bathroom you’ll find a free-standing slipper bath with traditional-style shower mixer attachment, a zinc-coated vanity unit and WC.
You might be worried about where your heat and hot water will come from, but this is provided in abundance courtesy of the wood-fired range in the kitchen. By arrangement, you can have croissants and newspapers delivered to the larder to help you start your day in peace and tranquility.
Storm lanterns and candles are provided to light your evenings and add to the magical feel of this very special property.
If you felt the need for a little home comfort, you could consider taking an in-car chargeable lantern or camping fridge. If not, then simply abandon yourself to a simpler life and let go of the hassle of modern-day gadgets.
As Hex Cottage is located on a private estate, there is also access to concierge services including a chef and tailored spa treatments.
Outside
There is so much to say about the outside of Hex Cottage. Nestled in its own meadow, you are quite literally surrounded by nature. Without the distraction of TV, radio or WiFi, you could really feel at one with the elements and simply free yourself from the trappings of modern life.
Situated on the 17th Century Sibton Park Estate, there is vast park and woodland all around. A haven for wildlife and farming, there is much to explore from your very first step outside the cottage.
The estate also offers outdoor activities such as the use of a private swimming pool and tennis court.
Location and surrounding area
The village of Sibton, close to the Estate, offers a dog-friendly pub in the White Horse. The village of Yoxford, a few miles away, also offers dog-friendly options.
Dogs are welcomed (on lead) by the National Trust at Dunwich Heath and at the beach there, both located around 9 miles away.
