Cottage Details
The Old Engine House is a dog-friendly, truly unique holiday home. As the name suggests, it is a converted engine house, sitting on the edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall.
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and there is off-road parking for two cars. Please also note that this holiday home does not accept children.
Inside
This is a cosy one-bedroom cottage, warm in any season thanks to central heating and a wood-burning stove. Fuel and power are included in the rent.
The living room and dining room are the perfect size for a couple enjoying a romantic break. Enjoy a candlelit dinner together, before snuggling up in front of the wood burner.
The kitchen is well-equipped, with microwave, oven, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine.
The shower room is on the ground floor, with shower, basin and WC. The king-size bedroom is on the first floor in the eaves. Bed linen and towels are included in the rent.
Free WiFi is available for guest use.
Outside
The enclosed garden, with raised decking area, is ideal for enjoying an outdoor meal or a glass of your favourite cold drink after a day of exploring the area with your dogs.
We loved the property we stayed at, very dog friendly and ideally located for seeing all that Cornwall has to offer, whilst being sufficiently off the beaten track t feel like we were in an oasis of tranquility…

Location and surrounding area
This converted engine house is situated in the small hamlet of Tretoil, surrounded by reminders of Cornwall’s mining heritage.
Bodmin Moor is right on your doorstep, and the historic town of Bodmin has plenty to explore with its infamous gaol, now a museum, and a variety of shops.
There are beautiful beaches just a quick drive away at Carlyon Bay and Padstow, as well as many walking and cycling opportunities to enjoy in the area.
Slightly further afield but still very accessible are the Eden Project (just 11 miles) and Falmouth (30 miles).
Guests staying here are perfectly placed for exploring all of Cornwall.
