Cottage Details

Pillar Box House offers quintessential English country charm over each of its three floors. Aptly named for the post box set into one of its walls, this well-proportioned cottage offers accommodation for up to eight people. Located in the hamlet of Hackford, Norfolk, it’s just 5 miles to the lovely market town of Wymondham.

Three well behaved dogs are welcome for a small additional charge.

On-site parking is available for up to three cars.

Inside

From low exposed beams, to quirky hidden nooks, this cottage is just bursting with character.

You are initially greeted by the expanse of the reception area which is effectively a room in itself. It has varnished floors and antique furniture, and hidden away at the side is a snug, with comfortable sofa and TV. There’s is even a mezzanine level hidden away above!

On the ground floor there is a large but cosy sitting room with an open fire and sofas to recline in to. Here you will also find a TV with Sky family package, Bul-ray player and iPod dock.

Moving into the kitchen diner, you will find a delight of other features. With a family dining table, and an inglenook fireplace, it is a fabulous place for evening dining. There is also a TV with Sky here too. The kitchen is fitted in a traditional country cottage style, with separate Butcher’s block. The Everhot electric range cooker completes the traditional feel, but there is also access to a microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. For foodies there is also a Kitchenaid food processor, hand blender, toasted sandwich maker and coffee percolator.

On the first floor there are three lovely bedrooms, all traditionally decorated. Two offer double beds, and the third has twin beds. There is also a family bathroom on this floor with bath and hand-held shower attachment.

There is a steep Norfolk Winder Staircase which takes you to the second floor, where you will find a sumptuous suite. Here there is a king sized bed with a dressing room, a TV and an ensuite shower room.

WIFI is available at a domestic standard.

Outside

There is a fully enclosed garden at the rear of the cottage. With a pretty garden, lawned area and patio with furniture, this is a space that you will enjoy using. Hidden away in a corner of the garden behind a trellis you will also find a luxurious hot tub for your enjoyment.

Location and surrounding area

Although this cottage is rural, you do have the option to book mobile spa facilities. For days in, you can also order dining experiences or afternoon tea, so if you don’t feel like leaving your lovely surroundings then you don’t have to.

Should you want to venture further afield, the county’s capital, Norwich, is around 14 miles away.

For exploring other Norfolk villages, why not visit the Bure Valley Railway. They allow dogs on their timetabled services. The railway attraction itself is around a 25 mile drive from Pillar Box House.
