Dog-friendly Anvil Cottage in the Lake District is opposite the home of Beatrix Potter in the village of Near Sawrey. It was once the village bakery and is full of country-cottage charm.
Up to three well-behaved dogs are welcome, and there is plenty of parking available, with an attached single garage and rear off-road parking.
Inside
With oil central heating and a multi-fuel burner, the cottage is warm at any time of year. Fuel and power are included in the rent.
The traditional porch opens onto a cosy lounge with a traditional slate-flagged floor. Guests can relax here in front of the satellite television and multi-fuel burner.
There is a separate dining room with seating for six, and a well-equipped, spacious kitchen with separate utility room. Equipment includes oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.
One of the three bedrooms is a ground-floor family room, with a single bed and bunk bed. There is also a ground-floor shower room with shower, basin and WC.
Upstairs can be found two double rooms, with window seats and lovely views of the village. There is also a family bathroom with bath (hand-held shower), basin and WC. Bed linen and towels are included in the rent.
Outside
The small cottage garden is delightful, with its enclosed lawn, perfect for your dogs to explore.
The single garage provides ideal storage for bikes.
Location and surrounding area
The cottage is 100 yards from the Tower Bank Arms pub which features in a number of Beatrix Potter books and offers delicious meals. Beatrix Potter’s home, Hill Top, is also close by.
Hop in the car for a short drive to Lake Windermere, or Esthwaite Water, with all the activities that these locations offer, from walking, cycling and biking to boating and more adventurous pursuits. The Keswick Adventure Centre offers canoeing, climbing and abseiling.
